#  Culture wars over face masks

 The New York Times has an article today about cultural wars over wearing face masks. The city manager of Stillwater Oklahoma is quoted as saying "it is unfortunate and distressing that those who refuse and threaten violence are so self absorbed as to not follow what is a simple show of respect and kindness to others." Why are we the only country in the world where wearing face masks during the pandemic has become a political issue?
